User Support
• Provide second and third line support for ICT support team
• Escalation to service providers as appropriate
Systems Maintenance and Security
• Configure and maintain all servers, LAN/WAN and internet connectivity
• Ensure the smooth running of e-mail provision
• Configure and maintain all anti-virus and anti-spam and spy-ware protection software
• Ensure that software licensing laws are adhered to
• Monitor and investigate network performance and event logs
• Monitor and investigate server performance and event logs
• Configure and maintain daily backups
• Perform regular physical and logical security reviews
• Be part of crisis management team, which may involve complex technical hardware or software problems as well as the Company Disaster Recovery plans.
Telephone System
• Configure and maintain telephone and voicemail systems, call logging software.
Hardware
• Install and maintain Desktop PCs (primarily Dell)
• Install and maintain servers (primarily Dell and HP)
• Install and maintain printers (primarily Canon and HP)
• Install and maintain all infrastructure hardware
• Maintain Video Conferencing system (Tandberg)
• Schedule upgrades and security backups of hardware.
Miscellaneous
• Ongoing review of effectiveness of suppliers, ensuring required provision of service at competitive prices. Recommending change of suppliers as appropriate.
• Become a member of the 24 hours emergency support rotor (On call approx 2-3 weeks a month)
• Adhoc duties and out of hours work may be required
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education
• Good standard of general education
IT Training
• Relevant Microsoft/CCN qualifications desirable
Experience - General
• Previous experience in an network/server support role
Experience - Systems
• Excellent Windows 2003 Server skills
• Advance networking skills - Cisco Switches, Checkpoint Firewalls, WANs, LANs and Cat 5 cabling
• Advance knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, Wins, DHCP and TCP/IP
• Good knowledge of SQL2000, Exchange 2003
• Experience with VPN connections, Internet connectivity, Bluecoat proxy, Citrix secure gateway and IIS
• Previous experience of supporting IP/Digital telephone systems desirable. Training will however be given in the case of no experience but an aptitude exists.
