The role is with-in the Logistics Department of Procurement and is to provide support to the buying team.
A major part of this is to liaise with clearing agents, airlines, shipping lines, hauliers and suppliers from time to time, to ensure a smooth operation importing product from overseas and collecting with-in the UK.
The main duties will include the following:
Regular communication with both airlines and shipping lines to ensure the cargo and/or containers are collected and delivered in a timely and efficient manner.
Preparation and maintain daily and weekly arrivals sheets for airfreight and sea freight.
Co-ordinate with haulage companies the collection and communicate with the buyers/production any delays.
Obtain charges appertaining to the imports by either air or sea and any associated charges from the revenue section.
Ensure the clearing agents have copy of the paperwork from shipper to clear the imports into the EU and any paperwork required for DEFRA and Public Health.
Once trained to prepare and enter clearances to CFSP/NCTS via in house program.
Maintain control over deferment account with HMRC.
Record all arrivals on in-house system.
Checking and authorising invoices.
Management of purchase orders.
Cover on rotation basis ‘On call’ times at evenings and weekends.
In addition to the above, we would seek to use your current skills with logistics in order to improve our working practises.
